True Story:
I wore this lovely yellow nail polish to one of my recent doctor's appointment, and I had the following exchange with my very nice doctor...
Dr.: Um, are your nails always that color? Or...
Me: Oh, no, this is nail polish.
Dr.: Oh, good! Because I was worried...
Me: Oh my gosh, no, they're supposed to be that color.
Dr.: That's... cool.
(I don't think she really thought they were cool.)
(I checked sephora.com, and it appears that this color is no longer available. That is sad, because everyone should have a nail polish that matches Barney)
Something very similar happened to me last summer with my toenails. I was asked more than once if my toes were infected. I try to stay away from that color now, even if I do think it looked pretty fab.
ReplyDeleteI sprained my ankle while playing for my high school soccer team and was sent to the orthopedist. I went in for x-rays and scared the nurse to death - my teammates and I had painted our toes blue and our fingernails red and white for our school colors. The nurse took one look at my blue toenails and called the doctor in. She thought there was something seriously wrong with my circulation in my feet! :o)
ReplyDeleteI love that I am not the only one that this has happened to! :)
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of this post when I went to the doctors yesterday. Oh the joys of teaching trends to others. I have an orange cat as well but we call ours Milo.
